As part of Red Army Watches’ (RAW) 15th anniversary, we collaborate with Alexander Shorokhoff to launch a special Celebratory Edition watch.
“The Alexander Shorokhoff brand marries Russian heritage with German precision resulting in uniquely designed, quality watches. This forward-looking approach whilst keeping in mind one’ s roots is one that resonates with RAW,” shares founder, Sugiharto Kusumadi.
“RAW was established in 2004 with the intention of offering a unique retail environment which is informative yet fun and welcoming for both new and seasoned watch lovers,” Kusumadi further elaborates. “We have – and will continue to evolve, while keeping this in mind.”
In coming up with the design for the Celebratory Edition, Shorokhov drew
inspiration from the colour of the waters that surround the citystate of Singapore – which coincidentally was similar to one of RAW’ s new corporate colours. This sea-inspired hue thus became the colour of the watch dial, serving as a backdrop for other details to fall in place.
The signature big 60 and spade hands, characteristic of the Avantgarde collection, are features in the Celebratory Edition that make the watch instantly recognisable as an Alexander Shorokhoff creation. However, to make the creation distinctly RAW, the Celebratory Edition sees the inclusion of a chapter ring, which pulls the trademark 60 inwards away from the case, giving the watch a new aesthetic.
Shorokhov’ s love for combining silver with rose gold colours further completed the palette for the Celebratory Edition. RAW’ s new logomark is incorporated on the dial in silver, encirlced within a rose gold ring at the 3 o’ clock position. This is balanced up with the seconds subdial in a rose gold ring at 9 o’ clock. Other rose gold details include the hands and appliqués.
